I get lots of emails and comments asking me if I'm planning on recapping favorite Lurlene books. Why, yes, I plan to!... just as soon as I obtain all of them!

Here's the master list of all Lurlene books I'd like to recap. I'm leaving off stuff written for much younger readers, as I don't think their format is well-suited to this blog. (I'm always up for being persuaded though!) Love to put in a plug for Sixteen and Dying as the next recap. Cowboys and AIDS! Couldn't be better.

also I vividly remember two things about this book:
1) the cowboy putting the protagonist's hand on his neck so she could feel his pulse, which at the time I thought was great but now I think is terribly weird, like FEEL MY HEALTHY BLOOD PUMP AS YOURS NEVER WILL.
2) the protagonist not letting herself feel sad about the fact that she's never going to get to have sex by thinking "No sex didn't mean no love!" even at the time I was like, dude, you should still feel pretty bad about not having sex.

so please recap these moments. Oh, also there's plenty of judgment passed on those icky people who get infected with HIV through morally dubious means like having sex outside the confines of a good Biblical marriage.

sorry this comment is so long. I'm just so excited. Jesus!

Meghan, I have another OLW book in the works for (hopefully) later this week, but I'll do this one after that! You've got my interest piqued already. COWBOYS OMG!

I think it's funny how anti-sex books are so freaking obsessed with sex.

Oh man, if you ever find "Don't Die, My Love" you HAVE TO READ IT.

Even if you don't recap it, that's okay. I recall it being so full of RIDICULOUSNESS that you might enjoy it anyway. Though I could be wrong, I was like 11 when I read it. Damn Scholastic Book Fairs and your trashy dying youth lit.
If I recall there were daddy issues and early pledges of marriage and one cancer-stricken boy planting tulips in the rain at night as HIS DYING ACT. (I know I've mentioned that part before... it really was the best.)

I would send you my very own decrepit, dog-eared copy if I hadn't gone through a shame-induced purge sometime in my midteens. Alas!

Did this blog move, or have you just been busy with life? I'm addicted to reviews of Lurlene books now thanks to you, lol.
